When the 3DS XL was announced a few months ago, I wasn’t really interested in buying one and I preferred to wait. Good thing I waited, since a few months later, they announced a limited edition, the Nintendo 3DS XL Pikachu Yellow. I wasn’t sure if I should pre-order it immediately at my local games store or not but decided to wait since other things had to be purchased first. But then I saw it in a store a few days ago, I just couldn’t resist and decided to get myself an early Christmas present 
So time for a little unboxing article.
The unboxing was done quite fast, no charger included of course and the tons of manuals added to the package won’t be needed this time around anyway.
The Pikachu on the console is absolutely adorable and the yellow looks really nice (and I actually don’t like yellow that much). The fact that you can see his tail on the back of the console is also a nice addition.
When I first opened it, I was amazed by how big the screens are and I immediately loved the new design. Just sad that the inside of the console is only white and has no other sign of Pikachu. A little thunder, a Pokéball or something would have been nice. Also, the fact that they haven’t added a second analog stick which is something many gamers would have loved to see on their new handheld.
Finally, a little comparison between the 3DS XL and the normal 3DS (ignore the dirty 3DS screen) and that’s where the difference can really be seen.
Even if I hesitated a few times, I’m really glad I took the decision to purchase this 3DS XL. Have to admit that I’ve been neglecting my DS/3DS games lately, so this will probably give me motivation to start playing more again.
